Dr. O’s Tips: Try peppermint essential oil for sore muscles, stomach troubles and many other ailments

Peppermint essential oil is wonderful for many oral and topical uses. It has antimicrobial properties and research has found peppermint can improve antibiotic resistance and help heal your body from overuse of prescription antibiotics and other chemicals that wreak havoc on your gastrointestinal system and overall health. It has a cooling sensation and calming effect on the body and relieves sore muscles when applied to the skin.

  • Mix with coconut oil and rub on sore muscles
  • Diffuse in air to improve focus and energy (rosemary has a similar effect)
  • Rub on bottom of feet and chest to improve breathing and fight flu or respiratory and sinus infections
  • Put 1 drop in drinking water to freshen breath and improve energy
  • Put 1 drop in drinking water to improve digestion and reduce nasea, acid reflux and bloating
